Exotic Dance
Exotic Dance
Movement is memory. Rhythm is resistance.
“Exotic Dance” explores the intersection of sensuality, identity, and cultural reclamation through the expressive power of the body. This series is a celebration of dance forms often marginalized or misunderstood — pole belly, twerk, and other diasporic movements — reframing them as acts of artistry, agency, and ancestral connection.
Each piece captures the tension between vulnerability and strength, intimacy and spectacle. The dancers are not subjects of voyeurism but protagonists of their own narratives. Their gestures speak of survival, joy, and defiance. Through layered textures, bold color palettes, and dynamic compositions, I aim to evoke the pulse of music and the emotional resonance of movement.
Although “The Myth of Sisyphus” poses mortal problems, it sums itself up for me as a lucid invitation to live and create, in the very midst of the desert.

“If string theory is correct, then the universe is made up of infinitesimally tiny vibrating strands of energy. Each vibrating strand emits a tone of its own.
As strands are attracted to each other, they combine to compose every single thing in existence — you, me, this page, this picture — the more strands that attach to one another, the greater number of tones that are combined.
If all these tones are vibrating at once, then one might conceive of every single thing as a unique chord of music. If that’s the case, then the universe is made of music. If the universe is made of music, I cannot imagine a more appropriate response than dancing.”
